IMPORTANT: Spacersavers must be washed before they are used for the first time.

Wash in liquid dishwashing detergent and air-dry without rinsing.

USING YOUR SPACERSAVER 

· Extend SpacerSaver to full capacity
· Shake puffer well, remove puffer cap then attach puffer to small end of your SpacerSaver
· Seal your lips around the mouthpiece (for infants and young children disconnect the SpacerSaver at it's centre to place the open end of the spacer over your child’s mouth and nose)
· Breathe out gently
· Fire one puff of the medicine into the SpacerSaver 

· Take a long breath in slowly and deeply, then hold your breath for at least 5 seconds or as long as comfortable*
· Breathe out through your nose
· Repeat process if you require more puffs of medication**

* YOUNG CHILDREN OR IN AN EMERGENCY: 

Breathe in through your mouth and out through your nose at a normal rate for 4 breaths, before the next puff is fired into the SpacerSaver.

** Make sure you only put one puff of medication into your SpacerSaver at a time.

CLEANING YOUR SPACERSAVER 

· Extend mouthpiece and SpacerSaver to full capacity and disconnect / separate spacer top from spacer base 

· Wash SpacerSaver in warm water with dishwashing detergent

· DO NOT RINSE OFF THE BUBBLES

· Allow SpacerSaver to air dry (not dried with paper or a tea towel) as the residue of the bubbles from the detergent forms a coating on the inside of the SpacerSaver (this stops the creation of static electricity inside, which can make the medication stick to the sides of the SpacerSaver instead of travelling through)

· Wash your SpacerSaver about every month, or when you’ve been unwell

· Replace your SpacerSaver about every 12 months if you use it every day, and if it splits or cracks, get a new one straight away

NOTE: If you do not regularly clean your SpacerSaver itwill not work to its optimum.
